Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life, my next great adventure. Tomorrow, my pack (i.e., myself, my boyfriend/partner in crime, Nathan, and our two canine kiddos, Rupal and Nuptse) will begin our long walk on the Washington section of the Pacific Crest Trail. I have never been a “blogger.” But as anyone who knows me can attest, I do love writing, taking photographs, and generally exercising my creative powers. So, why not?
I will do my best to post updates at our resupply points along the trail. These will include the major passes across the Cascades (White, Snoqualmie, and Stevens), as well as various more remote locations along the way. In the meantime, I will document our endeavors in my new Rite in the Rain notebook (though I have no intention of sitting in the pouring down rain and writing while my notebook remains dry and I get soaked, the name is still fitting because those are the moments I’m most likely to curl up in my tent and actually have time to write). I also hope to learn over the next few weeks how to use the new GoPro Hero4 I purchased yesterday at the REI garage sale, although I make no guarantees.
In the meantime, the pack and I will be evading wildfires, battling blisters, and doing our best to refrain from chasing after bears and to avoid other undesirable encounters with wildlife (right, Nuptse and Rupal?) as we hike roughly 10 to 20 miles a day, lugging our heavy packs, through some of the most breathtakingly beautiful wilderness areas this world has to offer.

Sounds like you are having a great adventure, remember to write about every little detail, even the ones you think may not be of interest. You will be surprised how people will respond to all the details. We are praying for you, and may God reveal himself in a very special way to both of you, this is an adventure physically and spiritually, a new awakening; God is good. we love you guys and the kids. lloyd and Stephanie
